Bent Sørensen’s piece for solo accordion “Looking on Darkness” has had a major influence on my development as a musician. The first time I played it was on my second year of undergrad studies, and since then I have dreamt of commissioning a new piece from this wonderful composer. I’m therefore thrilled that this is now happening – and it only adds to the joy that the project includes my dear friends in the Danish String Quartet.
The new piece will be a quintet for string quartet and accordion, but as if it were a “musical matrjoska-doll” the quintet will also include a solo piece for accordion and a string quartet piece.
