Although J. S. Bach has been dead for more than 250 years, tranferring his enchanting music on to a modern instrument as the accordion sometimes feels like creating completely new repertoire.
Works of Bach has had a prominent place on my music stand over the last couple of years, and luckily this will continue in the years to come. At least during 2021/22, where I will perform some of Bach’s harpsichord concertos with the terrific and refreshingly open-minded Polish baroque ensemble Arte dei Suonatori.
We call the project “The New Bach” since we juxtapose our new “accordion concertos” (BWV 1055 and 1058) written by old father Bach with two Sinfonias by his sons, who in deed were the new Bachs at that time.
Performances in Denmark and Sweden, september 2021.
