AEOLIAN
< BackAeolian is a new hybrid concert-installation-piece created by Norwegian composer Maja S. K. Ratkje and British artist Kathy Hinde.
The inspiration and title comes from the breath of the accordion, which is at the centre of the work both physically and musically. New aeolian instruments have been designed and built to create a sculptural installation, which fully integrates with the acoustic ensemble in a composed, breathing entirety.
Aeolian was commissioned by Red Note Ensemble from Scotland and premiered on November 17 2017 at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
