My very first album was released in 2006 when I was still doing my graduate studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
The ensemble Modern Tango Quintet had existed since 2001, but in 2005 our first violinist had to leave the group and we found ourselves in the need for a new one. We took advantage of this intermediate limbo and teamed up with one of Denmark’s most renowned violin soloists, Kim Sjøgren, to record a cd with modern tango.
The process was a great experience and resulted in an album mainly with Piazzolla classics such as Libertango, Milonga del Angel and Tanguedia but also including Kalevi Aho’s wonderful “Kolme Tangoa” (Three Tangos) and Stravinsky’s “Tango”.
